Glossary

This glossary explains common terms you will see in SynapticWorks. It is designed to be easy to read for both technical and non-technical teams.

Token

A token is a small unit of text used by AI models to read prompts and generate responses. Tokens are not exactly the same as words. Some words use one token, while longer or unusual words may use more.

Token usage

Token usage is the total number of tokens consumed when requests are processed. This includes prompt tokens (what goes in) and completion tokens (what comes back). Tracking token usage helps you understand cost and capacity.

Job

A job is a single unit of work processed by the platform, such as handling an inbound message, running an enrichment step, or delivering an outbound webhook.

Retry

A retry is an automatic second attempt when a job fails for a temporary reason, such as a timeout or a short network issue.

Business

A business is the top-level organization record in SynapticWorks. It usually maps to a company, brand, or legal entity that owns data, settings, and integrations.

Member roles

Member roles define what a person can do inside a business.

  • Owner: Full administrative control, including billing, member management, and configuration.
  • Editor: Can manage most operational settings and workflows, but does not have full account ownership permissions.
  • Viewer: Read-only access for monitoring, reporting, and audit visibility.

Integration

An integration is a connection between SynapticWorks and another system (for example a CRM, ticketing platform, or custom API) so data and actions can flow between services.

Webhook endpoint

A webhook endpoint is a URL in your system that receives event notifications from SynapticWorks in near real time.

Limits

Limits are guardrails set by plan or policy, such as maximum requests, model usage, concurrency, or retained history.

Usage preview vs rollups

  • Usage preview gives near-real-time, provisional numbers for recent activity.
  • Rollups are finalized usage totals grouped by period (for example daily or monthly), used for reporting and billing.

Retention (90 days)

Retention is how long operational data is stored. By default, usage details are retained for 90 days unless your plan or contract states otherwise.

Sandbox

Sandbox is a safe test environment for validating flows, prompts, and integrations without affecting live production operations.
